CTS provides both a Basic Windows Tune-Up service and a Complete System Tune-Up service.  These services are performed in your home or office at a time that is most convenient for you.  We provide these services at a very affordable price because we know if we significantly improve your PC's performance now you'll keep coming back to us for all of your PC maintenance, repair and tutoring needs in the future. These services are available as a one-time Service Call or as part of an annual Maintenance/Service Agreement that keeps your system at peak performance at all times.

Basic Windows Tune Up:

Our Basic Windows Tune-Up will insure that your Windows Operating System, Internet Browser and hard drive are properly configured for optimum performance.  We will also assess your vulnerability to computer viruses and damage from power surges and lightning strikes.  We provide this Basic Windows Tune-Up at a very affordable price because we know if we significantly improve your PC's performance now you'll keep coming back to us for all of your PC maintenance and repair.   A much more comprehensive 12-step Complete System Tune-Up that fine-tunes your entire system is also available.  

The CTS  Basic Windows Tune-up includes... 

• Operating System Tweaks - We will perform setting adjustments, tweaks and system utility procedures that will get your Windows Operating System performing even better than when it was new.  Microsoft configures Windows for the "average user".  We will tune it for your specific hardware and software, and how you use your PC.  We will also clean up and optimize the Windows Registry (the database that "remembers" everything Windows needs to know to operate your system).

• Internet Browser Tweaks - If you have an Internet connection, we will insure that your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape or AOL) is optimally configured for peak speed and performance.

• Basic Hard Drive Tune-Up - We will "clean up" your hard drive by removing unneeded files created during program installation, Internet surfing, and other Windows processes.  Then we will perform several other hard drive maintenance procedures and show you how to perform a defragmentation procedure that reorganizes the files on your hard drive, frees up disk space and increases the performance and speed of your PC.

• Virus Protection Check - Anyone who surfs the Internet, uses E-mail or uses a floppy disk other than their own is vulnerable can be infected with a computer virus.  Some virus infections are merely annoying while others can destroy all the data on your PC and render your PC unusable.  The only way to protect your PC from a virus is to install virus protection software and keep it up-to-date on (at least) a weekly basis.  If you have an Internet connection, we will assess your virus protection status and, if needed, make recommendations to help minimize the possibility of your PC being infected with a computer virus.

• Power Surge Protection Check - We will assess your PC's vulnerability to power surges and, if necessary, make recommendations to prevent damage to your system or loss of data as a result of power surges or lightning strikes.

Remote Access Repairs & Assistance: Do you have a minor problem that is annoying but doesn't justify a service call. We offer Remote Access Repairs via the Internet! For far less than a service call (or repair shop charge) we can fix minor problems or show you (on your monitor) how to do what you want to do. And we offer this service to most PCs nationwide!

Complete System TuneUp

• Comprehensive Hard Drive Tune-Up - We will "clean up" your hard drive by removing unneeded files created during program installation, Internet surfing, and other Windows processes.  Then we will perform several other hard drive maintenance procedures, including a defragmentation procedure that reorganizes the files on your hard drive, frees up disk space and increases the performance and speed of your PC.  Since PC performance degrades as available hard drive space decreases, this service includes an assessment of the free space available on your hard drive.  If you are running out of hard drive space we will offer several options to either free up space, create additional space by using disk compression, or upgrade your hard drive.

• Internet Security Check - "Hackers" are people who program their computer to seek out other computers logged on to the Internet and either infect them with a "computer virus" or copy all of the information from your PC to their PC.  This can be done while you are surfing the Internet, without your knowledge (until it is too late, in the case of a virus).  "Always On" high-speed modems (like cable modems or DSL modems) are particularly vulnerable to being hacked.  If you have an Internet connection, we will assess your PC's vulnerability to hackers and, if necessary, make recommendations to minimize or eliminate the risk.

• Data Security Check - Many people have accumulated a lot of very important data as saved files on their hard drive of their PC.  You may have a large address book, years of financial records, hundreds of downloaded MP3 music files or family photos stored on your PC.  Some people have years of e-mail or Word documents that could never be re-created.  Unfortunately, not everyone has been informed of the vital necessity of developing and executing a good data backup strategy.  One computer virus could wipe out hundreds of hours of data entry and years of records and other data.  We will discuss with you what, if any, steps you have taken to protect your files in the case of a computer virus infection, hard drive crash, PC failure, or accidental deletion.  If necessary, we will make recommendations to minimize the possibility of losing your valuable data.

• Interior PC Case Cleaning - Heat and dust are the two leading causes of PC component failure.  To prevent heat build-up, computers have built-in fans to keep the inside of the computer cool (that's the "hum" you hear when your PC is running).  The air flows over the system motherboard and options boards, into the power supply unit, and is exhausted through the back of the computer case.  Unfortunately, the solution to one problem causes another.  The airflow needed to prevent heat build-up causes dust particles build up on various parts and surfaces, which if left unattended will eventually cause disk drive and electrical component failure. We will thoroughly clean the inside of your computer and, if you like, show you the best ways to keep it clean.

• CD/DVD/CD-R Drive And Floppy Drive Cleaning - Both your CD drives and your floppy drive need to be cleaned on a regular basis to insure peak performance.  A dirty drive may not be able to read data from some CDs or floppy disks.

• Printer/Scanner Cleaning & Calibration - We will clean out the interior of your printer and perform a print head cleaning and recalibration (if needed) to insure the best possible printing performance.  Many scanners also require occasional re-calibration.  We will perform any needed scanner re-calibration and clean the window of your scanner with an anti-static cleaner to insure the best possible scanning performance. 

• Keyboard, Mouse & Screen Cleaning - Although you may keep the outside of your keyboard and mouse clean, the insides can get very dirty.  This causes "sticky", slow or non-responding keystrokes or mouse movements.  Besides vacuuming between the keys of your keyboard and cleaning the ball, rollers and socket of your mouse, we will also be sure the Windows settings for both are set to your liking and to allow you to work as efficiently as possible.  We also clean your monitor screen with an anti-static cleaner and vacuum the vents.

• Connection Check - Plugs can work loose over time and eventually cause intermittent or total failure of devices connected to your PC.  We will disconnect and securely reconnect all of the cables running between your PC and connected peripherals.
